Pharmacies have already started to pull out the children's medicines Tylenol and Motrin after it was requested by pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson's after questions have been raised regarding the quality of these drugs.
The quality of the drugs mentioned had something to do with the content of the drugs themselves. According to employees of certain drug stores, the actual content of the drugs is different from what is listed in the packaging. This has reportedly resulted to a number of children contacting tachycardia. Among the pharmacies that have started to pull out their stock are Los Hidalgos, San Judas Tadeo, and Carol and Farmax. Despite the reported effects of the drugs on some children, the local health ministry affirmed that there haven't been any reported case of the disease just yet. Perhaps nobody is reporting the case to authorities. Johnson & Johnson's pushed through with the pull-out, though, indicating that there might really be truth in the reports. Future tests will reveal if the pharmacists were right about their story. Engaging in the pharmaceutical industry is always a risky business. Companies risk the possibility of manufacturing medication that are not up to standard, which could cause grave consequences to the consumers of the drug. Unlike other jobs where failure is not that dangerous to the public, for pharmaceuticals, the risk for the public is always high. But the thing with pharmaceutical companies is that they've all had this kind of problem at least once in their respective lifetimes. The reputation didn't matter because each of them once had products that needed to be pulled out due to being substandard. It's such a shame that these pharmaceutical companies are not getting penalized for such failures--nothing but only financial loss.
