Ever since human beings discovered microorganisms and their relationship to illnesses, we have started a frenzy (rightfully) on proper hygiene and cleaning. Rules on hygiene developed over time, which could have led in part to the longer life span of the human race compared to the period prior to its introduction. Still, with rules on hygiene abundant around, it is still surprising that many of us forget that the greatest source of disease-carrying microorganisms are sometimes in the places that we are least likely to think of.
For beginners, the conclusion on the dirtiest thing in the household is the toilet bowl. While it can be really dirty when not cleaned, there are actually things that are even dirtier and they are alarmingly closer to us. One of these things are your doorknobs. Surprised? Doorknobs are regularly held by our hands and these hands can belong to multiple people, who might have used these hands for slightly unhygienic activities and then forget to wash off. As more hands are used to hold the doorknobs, the interchange of bacteria is overwhelming. Compared to toilet bowls, doorknobs are also often overlooked for their dirtiness, which is why they are not often cleaned at all. Another source of bacteria that is even closer to you know is the computer mouse or keyboard that you are holding right now. It's the same idea with the doorknobs, except that we spend longer times with the computer mouse of the keyboard. Lastly, there is the kitchen. It's a terrifying thought, but with the way some people maintain their kitchens, it's probably safer to prepare food in other people's bathrooms. Germs like to thrive in places that are warm and damp, and the kitchen fits these adjectives perfectly. Imagine the damp cloth that you use to wipe freshly washed dishes or even your kitchen drain that stays wet all day long. Imagine how much germs live there! These are just some of the dirtiest. There are a lot more places where germs thrive but these are probably the most important. Always be prudent when sanitizing your home and put an extra effort at these spots. You can talk about...
