Eyes

If the whites of your eyes appear gray, it’s most likely an effect of the aging process which can make the whites turn grayer. The sclera (whites of your eyes) thins eventually that is why the deep vascular tissue just beneath shows through. Although there are a few serious conditions that can make your whites look grayish, such as rheumatoid arthritis and brittle bone syndrome. Consult your ophthalmologist who might refer you to a specialist if needed. If the whites look red, your eyes are probably dry. The red wavy lines you see are tiny blood vessels which appear more when eyes are irritated. If the dryness gets worse, see your ophthalmologist. Dry eyes may be a sign of thyroid disease or diabetes. If you also experience itching and tearing, you probably have allergies. If the whites of your eyes are yellowish, it may be jaundice. This is due to a high level of bilirubin which is a result of red blood cells. See a doctor immediately because jaundice may be an indication of serious health problems such as liver dysfunction, hepatitis, and pancreatic cancer.

Hair

If you have a receding hairline, you probably have a family history of hair thinning. A dermatologist can recommend medication or a topical treatment to help. If your part seems wider than usual, your body might be under stress, although sometimes losing a handful of hairs a day is normal. Major physical events such as surgery or weight loss can also cause hair follicles to alter into a resting state and temporarily stop growing. Just stay calm because once you fully recover, your hair will progressively return.

Mouth

If your gums are swollen or bleeding, you might have periodontal or gum disease. Most people think that spitting blood after flossing is not significant, but what they don’t know is that your gums should never bleed. Even though periodontal disease is not painful, the bacteria that produced it have been associated with serious problems such as strokes and heart disease. It is important to maintain your professional cleanings, daily flossing, and brushing. If your tongue is smooth and shiny, you might be poor in vitamin B12. Dryness and cracks at the corners of your mouth can also indicate this vitamin deficiency.
